Harrogate Borough Council is making it simple for businesses to find the support they need to start, grow or expand. They’ve brought together all the organisations that deliver support, advice and grant funding for businesses across Leeds City Region and York & North Yorkshire.

Businesses can use this unique opportunity to talk to the experts all in one place thanks to the Yorkshire Business Market 2018.

If you head to the Aire Room, stands A44 to A66, you’ll be able to access information, advice and guidance on what could available for your business.

In 2017/2018 over £500k of grant support has been provided by these partner organisations to companies in Harrogate district, as well as funded advisory and skills development activity . This is your opportunity to find out what could be available to help you grow your business.

A40: Coventry University Enterprises

The Digital Advantage project is helping SMEs in North Yorkshire grow and compete more effectively via the use of digital technologies.

With support ranging from workshops to match-funded grants, the project aims to ensure businesses make the most of new digital and mobile technologies either through personally acquiring new digital skills or using the expertise of consultants.

Businesses can use the grant for new websites or new functions, optimisation, video content or cyber security and additionally help is available for exploiting the new digital marketing and social media opportunities.

Funded via the European Regional Development Fund and Coventry University, grants of up to £5,000 are available for sme’s looking to make digital improvements which can also include bespoke digital systems www.cuebusinesssolutions.com/digital-advantage/

A46: Harrogate College

Harrogate College offers a wide range of courses in Further and Higher Education as well as Apprenticeships to students from all backgrounds. Our mission is to equip students with the skills and knowledge to contribute confidently to the local community and ever-evolving businesses, in their respective fields.

A55: NYCC Adult Learning & Skills Service

The Adult Learning and Skills Service provide a variety of courses to suit the needs of employers and adults across North Yorkshire. Whether you are considering a return to education, looking to enhance your career development or are an employer seeking training for your employees – there is a course for you.

North Yorkshire Young Advisors are young people aged between 16 and 24, who help organisations ‘youth proof’ their practices, policies, strategies and documentation, they can help you understand how to attract and maintain the interests of young people.

A61: York Science Park

York Science Park was established with the aim of providing spaces for innovative companies to work alongside, and collaborate with, the University of York and their ground-breaking academic research.

As well as office and laboratory space we offer flexible meeting and conference facilities to residents and external companies in a stimulating environment that facilitates creative thinking.

A41: Ad:Venture

Providing expert help and advice to high growth businesses, AD:VENTURE is here to help your business reach its full potential. We deliver ERDF funded growth support to businesses in their first 3 years of trading and people planning to start a business.

We offer fully funded support including mentoring, events, specialist sector advice and grant funding to eligible businesses (Trading business to business)

AD:VENTURE can support businesses in or locating to: Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York and is supported by the 2014 to 2020 European Regional Development Fund Programme

A50: PAPI Project (University of York)

The Product and Process Innovation (PAPI) project based at the University of York offers funding to small businesses in York, North Yorkshire and East Riding.

The PAPI project provides 40% grants (up to a maximum grant value of £20k) for equipment that enables innovation through new product development, and which generates new jobs and growth. The project offers expert business development support to help develop funding proposals, with guidance and advice available at every step of the application process from an experienced team.

PAPI is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

A56: Digital Knowledge Exchange

The Digital Knowledge Exchange Service offers a series of fully funded digital masterclasses and conferences, mentoring and digital audits to SMEs across the Leeds City Region. The aim of this project is to assist SMEs across the entire Leeds City Region to invest in digital technologies, improve their digital knowledge and ultimately help businesses to grow. A60: Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership

The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) supports businesses in Leeds City Region that want to grow. Businesses contacting the LEP Growth Service can access support available from the LEP and their wider network of partners. From start-ups and early stage companies, to support to develop new products and processes through the LEP’s newest programme, Access Innovation – businesses are encouraged to visit our stand. The LEP works in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to support growing businesses. Support is also available for companies who want to invest in digital, explore opportunities to trade overseas, develop the skills of their staff, take on an apprentice, adopt sustainable travel and save money through more efficient use of energy, water and waste. A66: Harrogate Borough Council – Shared Ownership Housing

It’ s well known that the cost of housing in the district is  a barrier to recruitment. The gap between local salaries and local house prices is just too great.
